Introduction

Wada is a predominantly residential neighborhood situated in the eastern part of Suginami Ward, tucked between some of Tokyo's more famous districts. The area borders Ome Kaido (highway) to the north (beyond which lies Koenji Minami), Kannana Dori to the west (bordering Umezato and Horinouchi), Zenpukuji River to the south (bordering Honancho), and Nakano Ward to the east (including Honcho and Yayoicho). The park includes a運動広場 (sports field) shared with the adjacent Suginami Tenth Elementary School, used for physical education classes, community sports days, youth soccer, and youth baseball. The park serves as both recreational space and 防災公園 (disaster prevention park) equipped with emergency water tanks, fire hydrants, tree sprinklers, and disaster storage facilities.

Safety remains a strong point for the area. Suginami Ward has the lowest crime rate among Tokyo's 23 wards at 0.43%, with 3,097 crimes reported across the entire ward. The ward operates safety patrol stations in six locations including Wada, staffed by personnel including former police officers who conduct foot and bicycle patrols and provide crime prevention consultations.
